VGM Wound Care Releases Diabetic Program Guide
The latest guide from VGM division offers direction on starting a diabetes care program and how providers can develop their program.
The VGM Wound Care division of VGM & Associates has released its Diabetic Program Guide, a reference resource that includes directions on starting and developing a diabetes program.
“The new diabetic guide was designed to help our members understand the diabetic market and decide if a diabetic program is right for their business,” said Heather Trumm, BSN, RN, CWON, and director of VGM Wound Care and Bariatrics. “The guide walks the DME through looking at the opportunity, considerations and the payer reimbursement.”
Diabetes patients represent a large population, a significant portion of which is underdiagnosed. According to the CDC, 34.2 million U.S. adults have diabetes, with one in five unaware that they have it. In the last 20 years, the number of adults diagnosed with diabetes has more than tripled, VGM Wound Care noted.
“Most of the population that HMEs serve are also diabetics, so it makes sense for them to service the entire patient,” Trumm said.
VGM members can download the Diabetic Program Guide on the members-only portal.
