Motion Acquires Sage Seniors’ Resources

Purchase of Saskatoon retail business expands Motion’s footprint in Saskatchewan as a mobility and home access provider.

Canadian mobility and home access provider Motion has acquired Saskatoon’s of Sage Seniors’ Resources, growing the national provider’s reach in Saskatchewan.

The acquisition expands Motion’s footprint to 51 locations. A well-established retail business, Sage Seniors’ Resources was founded in 1997 by trained nurse Shirley Porter, who sought to provide support and services related to medical supplies and mobility equipment for the aging population in Saskatoon.

“Given Motion’s focus to expand our home accessibility solutions with our Safe at Home program, the acquisition of Sage Seniors’ Resources provides a unique opportunity to connect with seniors through this well-established retail business,” said Thecla Sweeney, executive chair and CEO of Motion. “Now with three locations in Saskatoon (Cleveland Ave., Faithfull Ave., and Market Mall), we are positioned to provide individuals with mobility, accessibility, and medical equipment needs with the most comprehensive offering and expertise in the province.”

Porter has made the decision to transition her business to Motion and is currently developing a Mobility Service Dog training program as well as looking for new ways to serve seniors.

“It has been a great honor to serve my community along with the Sage Seniors’ Resources team over the last 25 years, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with Motion to enhance the infrastructure and resources of this business in support of our valued clients,” Porter said. “As it remains my passion to provide help to those in need, I look forward to exploring how I can redirect my expertise, knowing that the business will now be a part of Motion’s network of skilled and caring experts.”
