The first installment for Medtrade in 2021, Medtrade
West (medtrade.com), which is slated for July 12-14
at the Phoenix Convention Center, is nearly upon us,
and it’s fair to say many in the industry are chomping
at the bit to get out and see their colleagues and some
products in person after months of social distancing.
Just shy of a year and a half ago, Medtrade West
capped off its extended stay in Las Vegas by being
the last major HME event of the year before the entire
country began self-quarantining to fight COVID-19. So
it’s fitting that the industry returns from lockdown at yet
another Medtrade West.
This time at its new home in the Grand Canyon State,
Medtrade West 2021 is back in the saddle, and will
feature networking events, live educational conference
sessions and special workshops.
And, as always, Medtrade West will also host an expo floor jam-packed with a wide spectrum HME offerings,
as well as business services to help providers dial up
their success. It’s as though the show’s exhibitors didn’t
skip a beat.
Bearing that in mind, we’ve assembled a lengthy
preview of what you can find on the expo floor. So, if
you’re attending the show, circle the booth numbers
and use this feature as a guide to help you map out the
key companies and offerings you want to check out.
Can’t make it? We’ve provided web pages and phone
numbers to find out more.
Accreditation standards designed for respiratory providers
Patient-Centered Respiratory Home (PCRH)
is a proprietary accreditation that sets in
place quality standards that guide clinical
respiratory providers to better engage with
chronic care patients. Better outcomes are
driven through additional care planning and
focused follow-up visits with program goals
being three-fold: address poor respiratory
care management; decrease emergency
department visits; lower the number of
hospital readmissions. PCRH’s standards
enhance patient management practices
through concise measures that cover access
issues, provider coordination, and communication
between respiratory specialists and
prescribers.

ACHC launches two new DMEPOS accreditation distinctions
National accreditor Accreditation
Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has
launched two accreditation distinctions for
DMEPOS organizations, offering comprehensive
solutions to increasing demands for
accountability and better patient care. The
distinction in Clinical Respiratory Patient
Management puts emphasis on a collaborative,
teams-based approach that encompasses
assessment, treatment, documentation,
and education to enhance quality of
life and reduce hospital readmissions. The
distinction in Custom Mobility focuses on
responsive care and services that improve
activities of daily living and quality of life for

Document management system lets providers make the rules
TIMS Document Management provides the
means for HME/DME providers to build and
manage form templates, as well as define
insurance documentation billing rules on
a payer-specific basis for each product
line they service. This allows the sites to
bring the entire HME/DME medical billing
process together — no tribal knowledge
required. The system lets providers effectively
manage compliance documents with
a single dashboard that informs them of
documents to work, tasks for which they
are responsible, and the ability to research
customer accounts.

Virtual site surveys help ensure DMEPOS accreditation renewal
BOC Virtual Site Surveys leverage technology
to enable facility owners to comply with CMS
requirements when an in-person visit is not
possible, such as the present situation due to
the pandemic. Virtual Site Surveys take place
in real-time, replicating standard procedures.
An independent surveyor coordinates an
online “meeting” to conduct a virtual tour of
the facility. If BOC awards accreditation, an
additional in-person site visit will follow as
soon as it is safe and possible. BOC virtual
surveys also are eligible for BOC’s expedited
service, which guarantees a visit from a
surveyor within 10 business days.
