Medicare Proposed Rule on Lymphedema Coverage Now Open for Comment
As it prepares to provide Medicare coverage for lymphedema-related products such as compression garments starting Jan. 1, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has put out a proposed rule, published in the Federal Register on July 10. The comment period ends Aug. 29, 2023.
A report on VGM’s Essentially Women Web site said coverage will be available “for both standard and custom compression products,” and that the proposed rule “specifies that accreditation, quality standards, and enrollment criteria will be mandatory for all suppliers of compression therapy items.”
