CGS Awarded Jurisdiction B DME MAC Contract

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded the Jurisdiction B DME MAC contract to CGS Administrators.

In a June 1 announcement, CGS noted that the contract is for seven years and includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“CMS indicates that the Jurisdiction B contract includes 5.8 million Medicare beneficiaries and 15,700 DME Suppliers, which equates to almost 19.2 percent of the national workload,” CGS said in the announcement. “CGS will perform Medicare fee-for-service activities, including processing claims received from providers and suppliers; appeals; re-openings, customer service; provider outreach and education; and medical review.”

Steven B. Smith, CGS’s President and Chief Operating Officer, said, “CGS considers it an honor to serve the Medicare Program and has done so since the inception of the program over 58 years ago. CGS is committed to continuous improvement and innovative approaches to serving the beneficiaries and healthcare providers across Jurisdiction B, and this win represents the dedication of each of our employees.”
