Motion Picks Up Canadian Health Care Products

The purchase marks the first corporate location in the province of Manitoba for the rapidly growing Motion.

Canadian mobility device and home access provider Motion (formerly Motion Specialties) has expanded into Manitoba with the acquisition of Winnipeg’s Canadian Health Care Products Ltd. (CHCP).

Established in 1999, CHCP is one of the largest home medical supply dealers in Manitoba and will be known as Motion Winnipeg.

With the purchase, Motion now has 43 locations across five Canadian provinces. The acquisition further accelerates Motion’s ongoing growth, said Thecla Sweeney, executive chair and CEO of Motion.

“We are excited to return to the province of Manitoba with a corporate location,” Sweeney explained. “In partnership with CHCP and its founder Joe Perry, Motion will continue to serve the unique mobility and accessibility needs of Manitobans while upholding our commitment to make life accessible for all Canadians.”

“After 30 years of business, it brings us great pride to merge with Motion – Canada’s leading medical equipment dealer,” Perry said. “It’s fitting that our motto has always been ‘Keeping Canadians in motion’ as we are now seeing that motto come to life through this integration.”

CHCP joins Shoppers Home Health Care’s Wheelchair & Stairlift Division, MEDIchair (incl. Saskatoon, SK & Newmarket, ON), Eastern Mobility Specialists (Cornwall & Hawkesbury, ON), Creative Mobility Products Inc, North Coast Home Medical Equipment, and A-1 Wheelchairs Unlimited as prominent providers who Motion has acquired by over the last five years.
