ResMed Creates Online Resource Hub In Honor of COPD Awareness Month

The site collects information about treatment options and research on COPD, one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.

In honor of COPD Awareness Month, sleep therapy and respiratory equipment maker ResMed has created a collection of online resources and educational materials about treatment options for patients and the latest research on the condition.

An estimated 251 million people worldwide have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which obstructs airflow from the lungs and progressively makes it harder for patients to breathe. ResMed’s site collects tips for living with COPD and the leading treatments and products for the disease, including portable oxygen concentrators, ventilators and more.

Site visitors can also sign up for email alerts from ResMed that will be sent out when new research is published about COPD or treatment options become available.

In announcing the resource, ResMed Respiratory Care President Richie McHale pointed to alarming statistics showing that COPD is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and around the world. With the situation becoming more dire, more patients need to be educated about the disease and their options, he said.

“It’s more important than ever that we support and educate the growing COPD community with readily available information that can help improve quality of life for millions,” McHale said.
