Respiratory Care's Evolving Challenges
Covid-19 forced considerable changes for home oxygen
care. Providers had to change business
models, emphasize infection control, and
deploy new technologies to maintain
care. What have been the lasting impact
for oxygen and respiratory providers and
the clinical care team as a whole?
John Medina, RRT, director of sales
at CAIRE Inc., and David Lyman RRT, RRTSDS,
vice president of VGM Respiratory,
met with HMEB to discuss topics
such as the impact of new variants,
telehealth, frequency of RT check-ins,
and the pandemic’s impact on other
home oxygen patients. Both have been
home medical equipment professionals
themselves, and Medina owned his
own HME company for many years, so
they offer valuable on not just how care
has changed, but how the business of
providing oxygen care has changed —
and what needs to be done to protect it.
