AAHomecare Honors Ackerman

The American Association for Homecare recognized Steve Ackerman, president and CEO of Spectrum Medical, as the 2021 Van Miller Homecare Champion at its annual Standup for Homecare event on Tuesday during Medtrade.

The Van Miller Homecare Champion Award honors AAHomecare members who reflect the characteristics of Van Miller, past CEO and founder of the VGM Group, and Ackerman was chosen for his efforts on behalf of the industry.

Ackerman has served in various capacities for the association and most recently served as AAHomecare’s Chairman of the Board.

“Through various leadership roles for the association, Steve has spoken before Congress and CMS as an industry expert,” AAHomecare President and CEO Tom Ryan said in remarks during the event. “We saw first-hand during Covid his approach to challenging situations.”

“To be mentioned in the same breath as Van Miller is just unbelievable,” Ackerman said in accepting the award. “… Thank you all very much. This is a collective award for the industry. I really appreciate everything you do. The victories we’ve had on the Hill recently couldn’t have been done without everyone’s input.”
