DrySee Launches Waterproof Bandage with a Liquid Indicator

If water or other liquids penetrate the bandage’s outer seal or the wound seeps fluid, a gauze barrier changes color.

Wound care technology company DrySee has introduced a patented waterproof bandage with liquid intrusion alert.

After procedures, doctors will often advise patients to avoid showering to keep a wound dry. DrySee visually alerts users if any liquid penetrates the bandage so that they can shower and engage in daily activities.

DrySee’s bandages provide a secure, waterproof covering for low exudate wounds. If water or other liquids make their way into the bandage, or if the wound seeps fluid, the gauze barrier around the perimeter seal of the bandage will turn from light blue to dark blue to alert users to change the bandage.

DrySee bandages are available in packages of 25, and DrySee bandages can last for up to three days, so patients might be able to reduce the number of bandage changes during recovery.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, surgical site infections occur in 2 percent to 4 percent of all patients undergoing inpatient surgical procedures, and they are the leading cause of post-surgery hospital readmissions.
