ACMESA Not Holding August Summer Meeting

North Carolina recovery plan nixes state association’s Aug. 19-20 event. ACMESA is examining possible fall rescheduling as well as virtual options.

Citing Phase Two of North Carolina’s Covid-19 recovery plan, which bans gatherings of more than 10 people, the board of the Atlantic Coast Medical Equipment Services Association (ACMESA) has voted not to hold its Aug. 19-29 Summer Meeting.

“We will not receive another announcement from Gov. Cooper to know if NC will be moving into Phase 3 until Aug. 7,” a statement from the association read. “Since the date to alert the hotel falls before Aug. 7, the Board has voted not to hold our meeting Aug. 19-20.”

ACMESA Executive Director Beth Bowen is working to explore rescheduling the event in September or October. In the meantime, ACMESA reports it will explore holding a virtual meeting to continue providing education and networking opportunities for its members.

Members that already registered and paid for the vent can email Bowen to request a refund by Aug. 15, or instead of a refund, they can opt to have their paid fees roll-over to the next meeting.

All hotel rooms reserved through the Holiday Inn Resort in Wrightsville Beach will be canceled automatically. That said, if attendees still want to visit the hotel for some rest and relaxation, the hotel will extend the $229/$259 discounted room rates for Aug. 18 to Aug. 23. Call (910) 256-2231 ext. 112 and use the code ACM.

“We all look forward to our face-to-face meetings so much, but the safety our of membership will continue to be our top priority,” ACMESA noted in its statement. “We will notify the membership, sponsors, and exhibitors as soon as final plans are established.”
